Have you ever laid awake at night unable to sleep, trying to figure something out? Or maybe you were so preoccupied with your thoughts, that you were unaware of things happening around you?

If we are honest, we all have to answer, yes!

The Word of God tells us in times like these, that we are to cast all our care upon him; for he careth for us. I Pet. 5:7

I like the meaning of the word “care.” A “care” is a distraction. It means to draw in different directions. The Lord has surely got our number here. He knows right where we live.

We are to take our “care” and cast it upon Him.

Cast means to throw upon. I like to think, just get rid of it. Better yet, place it upon Him. Of course, this is telling us to pray.

Why should you pray about this “care?” Because your Father in Heaven cares about YOU!

In Isaiah 26:3, we are assured that “thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee (or firmly established in thee) because he trusteth in thee.”

The peace that is ours through Christ, is to be enjoyed at all times, in every situation, through every problem.

Instead of being overcome by difficulties or by yielding to the pressures of life; we are to put our trust in the Lord, by staying our mind upon Him.

Stay means we are to lean on or rest our minds upon the things He has told us and His love.

The peace that is ours when we trust in Him, is not because of our own determination. Instead, it is brought about by the keeping power of the Lord Himself.

The next time you find your mind in turmoil, agitation, or distress, give it to God in prayer. Peace is yours in Christ.
